The Floral Internship is a rigorous position that will immerse you in the event and floral industry. Floral design experience is not an absolute, but excitement, willingness to learn and a creative eye are required. Seeking a hardworking, intuitive, solution-oriented candidate that is not afraid to get their hands dirty. This is a paid position.

Internship Dates: Mid April - End of June

Tuesday - Saturday Availability required with a commitment of at least 2 days per week in-studio and a minimum of 6 weekend events (20-30 hours per week)

We operate out of a 3200 sq. ft design studio in Laytonsville, MD We are dedicated and passionate. We love to work hard and have fun. We are gritty, and resourceful. We take our jobs seriously, and we’re passionate about our team. We are continuously looking for ways do things better and we stick by each other when the going gets tough. Job Responsibilities

Studio upkeep (cleaning, sweeping, organizing, more organizing, bucket washing, vase cleaning, candle cleaning, etc.)

In -studio wedding prep and floral design

Clean up after events

Flower processing
Foraging

Vase and mechanic prep

Packing toolboxes

Event day crew

Event breakdown assistance

Airport + flower farm pickups

Opportunity to be trained in event and mood board design

Possible administrative component depending on interest and experience

 

Qualifications

Available on weekends and at least two days per week

An artistic eye

High level of organization and attention to detail

The ability to maintain a strong work ethic and a positive outlook

Dependability and punctuality

Flexibility and willingness to step in wherever needed, going above and beyond

Intuitive, hardworking, and solution oriented (are an absolute must!)

Comfortable on ladders and able to lift heavy items

Maintain Sophie Felts Floral Design brand and Image at all times

Exude warm professionalism in all aspects of the job

Open and honest communication

Experience with Squarespace, Canva, Publisher or Photoshop a plus

Close proximity to our studio in Laytonsville, MD a plus

Floral experience is not absolutely necessary, we are willing and able to train the right person
